# Colors
How to color any text the plugin shows.
Every piece of text goes through the same color engine: messages in the language files, menu
names and lore, shop entries, scoreboard and tab lines, leaderboard templates, and the prefix in
`config.yml`. Everything on this page works in all of those places.
## The classic codes
The sixteen `&`-codes work exactly as they always have.

| `&0` to `&9`, `&a` to `&f` | The sixteen classic colors. |
| `&l` `&o` `&n` `&m` `&k` | Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, obfuscated. |
| `&r` | Reset. Clears color and formatting both. |

Write the color first and the format second: `E9FD4&lBold blue`, never `&lE9FD4`. A color
resets formatting, so the other order silently drops the bold.

## Any color you want
A hex value gives you any of 16 million colors. The everyday form is `&#` followed by six hex
digits:

Two other spellings do the same thing, so text copied from elsewhere keeps working:

Tags are case insensitive, and the `#` inside a tag is optional, so `` works too.
## Gradients
A gradient fades the text from one color to another, letter by letter.

The first color sits in the opening tag and the second in the closing tag. The MiniMessage
spelling, with both colors in the opening tag, is accepted as well:

Format codes inside a gradient are kept, so `&lBold fade`
fades and stays bold. Color codes inside are dropped, because the gradient owns the color.
`&r` inside clears the formats.
## Rainbow

The hue walks the whole rainbow across the text, however long it is. Format codes inside behave
the same as in a gradient. A number straight after `RAINBOW` is accepted for compatibility with
other plugins and changes nothing.
## The named palette
On top of the classic sixteen, the plugin ships 125 named colors, each with a two-character
code. `&t7Coral` is the same as `&#FF7F50Coral`, just easier to remember and shorter to type.

## Where to test
Change a line in a language file and run `/asw reload`, or edit a menu name in the `menus`
folder. No restart needed for either. See
